I do enjoy in-person experiences for most things in life, but for spirituality and religion I've taken to keeping a (literal!) distance. Not sure why. Probably my past experiences going to local cultish groups as a teenager. Who knows.

I'm very sorry you went through that. It goes to show even some people who should know better (straight from India in your case) end up being cult leaders.
