Oh, I see where you're going! Fun fact, in some cultures (even western ones, like Brazil and Cuba) this is absolutely applicable to the modern day because local politicians consult oracles. They're not called oracles, there are specific names according to the tradition (usually Afro-diasporic) but they function the exact same way, with channeling and/or possession.
I'm not personally against it, in case you're wondering. :) there are many other avenues (albeit more "normal" in the western industrial sense) by which all sorts of leaders all over the world find answers for decision-making when plain logic + stats isn't enough, so why not oracles too. I know the go-to reaction in that scenario would be to worry about morality, and it's not entirely a misguided concern so it's undersrandable, but I'd say an immoral/corrupt leader will be corrupt no matter what is the source of information they're using. It's down to the person's character, instead of any external advisors. Ultimately, the decision-making is on the inquirer's hands anyway. There's no such thing as a perfect oracle, even among the best; and some people selling these services are straight-up pretending. (So even if there are concerns about "the word of god" or spirit or whatever, well, we can always misinterpret).

The only word of caution I'd give is about addiction. Oracle addiction is a thing and it's as destructive as any other kind. I'm actually planning an article on that.
