I felt like writing an introduction in the style of “elevator speech”. Super short, straight to the point, and no explanations. As someone who used to overexplain myself, this is an exercise in letting go of old stuff that doesn’t serve me anymore.

Also, if you need explanations, perhaps you’re not welcome here anyway. I don’t spoon-feed. I have tons of articles you can read and gradually get to know me through them. Today I’m just bringing you a summary. Enjoy.

My name: …is none of your business :) This space on Medium is where I focus more on spirituality and less on my social life. I keep them separate. “Lucy”, the pen name I use here, is also the name I use for oracle ceremonies. It’s actually Lucia (like the Swedish saint), but I figured more people worldwide would know how to pronounce its English version — Lucy — so there you go. Pronouncing it correctly is very important.

My whereabouts: I won’t dox myself, but I live in Ireland. So, that’s my vague location as of now. Take it into account for context.

So, I mostly write about spirituality. My spiritual beliefs are: I adopt a Buddhist philosophy and cosmology (Mahayana, more specifically Nyingma). I grew up near a temple, but it was here in the West, so yes, I’m familiar with Christian culture. I do not dislike Christianity. I did not become a Buddhist (or formerly neopagan) to “stand against” Christianity. You will not find Christian bashing on my blog and I ask you to refrain from it too.

Lucy, aren’t you an oracle? Is it allowed in Buddhism? Yes, it is allowed. Considering I follow a Tibetan lineage, it’s even encouraged in this culture. There are many schools of Buddhism. Not everybody is Zen. ;) The oracle craft is not something I learned from Buddhist sources, though. It’s Hellenic and it’s the result of an agreement I have entered into with a deity. I’m simply pointing out it fits into my overarching spiritual philosophy (Buddhism) and does not contradict it.

Lucy, shouldn’t you focus on healing the world? No. My job is not to heal, it’s to “spill the beans”. I know the healer path is popular today, and I endorse it like any other path, but that’s none of my business. I’m not doing this whole spirituality thing to “look like a good person who is so very wholesome”. I’m working with what I was called to do, and if some people consider me rude or insensitive, that’s their problem.

Was I an oracle in a past life? I haven’t a clue, and I’m not looking for an answer to that question either. I do believe spirit lives on beyond death, and have my speculations about past lives I probably had (mostly random, and mostly in Scotland. Nothing oracular so far) but I’d rather focus on the current life. Let’s live in the present.

My political views: I’m a left-of-centre libertarian. Depending where I go, I’m considered super left-wing or very centrist. In a nutshell, I am for social reform and civil rights, but I’m not a twee daydreamer. Give me potential solutions, I’m not listening to mere complaints on their own. When you ignore human nature, ignore underlying psycho-social reasons for our problems, and/or demand radical change before we’re collectively ready, it always ends in disaster. This is my view.

If I could only say one sentence, what would it be? “Know yourself, avoid excess, and be careful about your assumptions”. I didn’t come up with it myself, it’s inspired on Delphic maxims, but they harbour everything I think matters most in life.

Thanks for your attention, now you’re equipped to decide whether or not to follow me.
