This, like many other of your points throughout this article, made me reflect a lot about issues that seem tangential but are probably connected to belief in determinism on a deeper level than I initially thought. For example, some people's habit of automatically pathologising dissidence could be connected to an unconscious bias they have in favour of the fallacy of determinism - "we can't have free will, therefore, if anyone deviates from the norm which the majority is embracing, they must be dysfunctional". (Ofc I'm referring to regular folks who don't have medical qualifications).
Anyway, great points here. You inspired me to write about a tangential topic which is up my alley: what does our opinion of oracles say about us. :)
