Well, I don't know about religious leaders wanting less than ideal object relations in their followers, but... It's probably a thing in high control cults? You got me thinking. I'll have to examine that hypothesis more.
I was focusing more on how some people go like, "life isn't going my way / life isn't perfect / the world isn't perfectly fair and understandable, therefore I'm angry at god" (because supposedly, god created it all). It's as if some people can't conceive of an all-powerful god UNLESS this god is all-good or all-bad. Otherwise, "oh, god no longer exists to me".
I'm not advising anyone to believe or not believe in the deity(es) they like, but I just find it weird that some people's only reason to leave a whole entire religion behind is "I can't have all-or-nothing thinking here".
