You hit the nail on the head there. I'm not Muslim or black, but a lot of what you say resonates. I'm not sure where it comes from, but I see a lot of white people are conditioned to see "ethnic" people as servants. As if we were all born to work for them, maybe not necessarily as slaves, but always a "yes sir, yes madam" sort of situation. (And btw by ethnic I don't mean it as an actually valid thing, I mean it as a misjudgement THEY make about anyone who looks "other" to them, culturally).

I mean, I could be wrong, but seeing by the sequence of events in your story, it seems clear to me that Tracy wasn't really interested in giving you the benefit of the doubt. She saw you, thought to herself "oh, this person isn't like me" and immediately adopted this higher up attitude feeling entitled to boss you around. I've been through that. Maybe our experiences aren't identical, who knows, but there could be a commonality.
